The Project

Flying aircraft is fun, flying around the world is challenging but circumnavigating the globe and doing it in a record time is a total different thing.

About 4 years ago we started planning the record flight, a 22.140 miles race against the clock but in 2007 the long standing "99 days" record was broken and the new record to break now stood at 80 days, this caused for a review of the plans. Today we have a route calculation and an ultralight aircraft that can get us around the globe in "40 days", yes, forty days is our objective.

To give our flight a purpose we choose to support the Belgian Child Cancer Foundation and we hope to raise a huge amount of money for this charity.

To be able to organize the event we have started a nonprofit organization called "Ultralight Aviation Adventures vzw". U.A.A. is the official organizer of the record and will continue to work for charity after the world record attempt flight.

The Child Cancer Foundation

The whole project is set in favor of the Belgian Child Cancer Foundation or Kinkerkankerfonds vzw.

The Child Cancer Foundation has been treating children at the University Hospital of Ghent for over 50 years. De experience and reputation of this children's department has been greatly valued in Belgium as well as in many other countries around the world. At the end of the seventies they already treated over a thousand children.

In the mid-eighties the possibilities of the healthcare were not enough to support the needs of the children and their families. New resources were needed to fill the ever growing needs of these children. The first initiatives were taken by Dr. Yves Benoit who made the first donations to 3K6 (the children's cancer department) a reality.

Our goal is not only to set a new wolrd record but also to help this foundation by donating a fixed amount of money for every mile we travel.

So please help us to cover the 22.138 miles and by doing so support the Child Cancer Foundation.

Thank You.
